Nursing associates work alongside registered nurses and healthcare support workers to deliver care for patients and the public.
Duties include clinical tasks; supporting patients and their families when faced with difficult news or diagnoses; performing observations such as blood pressure or temperature; sharing information with nurses on a patients’ condition or behaviour; ensuring dignity and safety of patients at all times.
Nursing associates start in a trainee post, combining work-based learning in a healthcare setting with academic study. This new role can be a stepping stone to becoming a registered nurse.
